How is the Tawe Guild Funded?
-We are totally self-funded. So, this means, we can choose the type, length and frequency of our courses, ie. we run to suit our members and also we do not have the same constraints as many funded courses. We're all individuals and we hope to build on strengths and stretch our skills and creativity. You can join as a complete beginner, or add to your repertoire! You don't have to come to all the courses, but we're sure you'll find something to suit!
How much does it cost to join the Tawe Guild?
Membership is £125 per person/per year for membership and is renewable each September.
A part of this fee goes to our umbrella organisation, the Association of Guilds of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers. This is a national UK wide body and includes a number of other Welsh Guilds. and Saturday courses cost less for members too. Use of Tawe Guild Library, oh and use of the kettle!!!!
Studio-membership costs £40 per year (ask about reduced fees) and is available only to Tawe Guild members.
Use of the Tawe Guild basement studio to do your "thing" on days not booked for events/classes.
Try "Drop-in-Tuesday" to get on, in congenial company.
Use of Tawe Guild Library, contact Chris for this!
Or book a session on the Guild drum carder.
The Guild has our own spinning wheels, looms etc. loan available only to studio members.
So don't buy before talking to one of the committee first.
Oh and the studio use is for studio-members only. Visitors by arrangement only.
How much are courses? This depends on who is leading the course as external speakers, have expenses!
Well, yes we do charge, and we are unapologetic about this, rent has to be paid for our basement studio and superb dry storage at the Cross, and we have spinning wheels, looms and equipment to buy and maintain.
